Pre-Operative Class
This class is designed specifically for individuals who are expecting to have weight loss surgery within the next four weeks. The Pre-Op class is offered at least twice each month. The class starts promptly at 2 pm and concludes at 4 pm. This class covers:
- Which medications need to be stopped prior to surgery
- Pre-operative Diet
- Pre-operative preparation
- Phone numbers to call to get the exact time of your surgery
- Where to park, where to check in the morning of surgery, where family members can wait for a call from the surgeon after the surgery is over.
- What to expect during the hospital stay
- What to expect after discharge from hospital
- Review of eating patterns after surgery
- Important phone numbers to call if you have questions after discharge
- When to see the surgeon for follow up care
Weight Loss Surgery Support Group
The Support Group is open to all individuals who have had weight loss surgery or are planning to have weight loss surgery along with their loved ones. Individuals who are planning to have weight loss surgery are encouraged to attend at least two meetings prior to surgery. These informal meetings allow time for personal sharing, encouragement and discussion. Each meeting includes an educational topic specifically designed to be of interest to those who have had weight loss surgery. The topics cover a wide range of interests, some topics we have covered include:
- Eating tips for getting through the holidays
- How to Evaluate the Quality of your Diet?
- A Grocery Shopping Makeover!
- Bone Health After Weight Loss Surgery
- Emotions - how they can affect our eating patterns
- Physical strengthening
- Exercises you can do even if your knees are bad
- Basic Exercises for all major muscle groups
The Support Group meets each month on the Fourth Thursday at 6 pm
In November we will meet on the Third Thursday of the month due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.
